Where there's a will...
It's a bit "round-about'ish", but if the needy user opens up one of the two help docs in Palringo (and thereby opening the built-in browser), a menu from here allows you to access you home screen, or other apps. This was written and posted to my blog via e-mail, while Palringo was running,- it'll be interesting to see if the IM-client will still be running when I return,- I don't think so as Palringo still suffers from it's intermitten connectivity issues.
But they really need to make this deliberately possible via a menu programmed into the interface of the app, and not through a hack like this.
I would also appreciate some better of notification (especially off Palringo's own screens), that a new message has arrived, than a mere beep (or should I say peep :o)).

Lightin’ the FUZE
The Multi Protocol IM client FUZE Messenger works, and as it supports:
ICQ/IRC, AIM/aol, Google Talk, Msn, and Yahoo! (plus Jabber), it eliminates the need for the RIM apps; Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk, Windows Live Messenger.
The FUZE interface is functional, and you can escape out of it, without disconnecting the client, to use other apps, or checking out other things.
To it’s credit I would underscore it’s reliability,- in the words of someone elses review: “It get’s the job done”,- and I agree,- but I torn between using someting I can depend on, and have mediasupport.
Supported IM Protocols
In a contest between Fuze Messenger, Palringo, and instango,- Palringo clearly wins regarding support the most protocols,- but as we saw earlier, this client suffered from debilitating issues, whereas FUZE was alot more reliable.
In between them, I found a third client,- that could have been the title of a classic novel: "The Third Client"... instago, is the name, and I'll be dealing with it next...

Palringo,- he was just a drummer...
If it would only work :o(
I had a very hard time finding a .cod that didn't froze on some java call, and when I finally succeeded, I added in my services, and rejoiced at the thought of all the apps I could kick out of my phone now.
If it would only work :o(
I had a hard time logging in, and once in, you can't jump to a different a to check something, like an appointment, or address, let alone to go to you main screen to check the time. Because when you do,- WHEN YOU DO... You also sign out of Palringo, and as that apparently works like a proxy (God only knows why,- you would have to own some kick ass servers to render such service, for all those would be requests) for all your services, you go offline here as well, loosing ongoing conversations.
The media support is poor, you have to severely reduce the picture size and quality, so be allowed to send one.
This proxy business is what I consider the key to Palringos issues.
While online, Palringo constantly looses connection with the services (AIM, MSN, Facebook, and so on),- I've read other reviews on The Internet, and they have the same problems, and I've found no one that seems to have a solution,- not even Palringo themselves. This issue is the nail in the coffin, for an, otherwise, excellent idea.
I'm going to check this one last time....
Nope "Connection Lost ~ Reestablishing..
I can't use this, whether free or paid for,- so out it goes, and I'll see if the somewhat limited functionality of Fuze Messenger is more reliable.
People - sigh...
I downloaded the "People" ezine app from App World's free section, just to find out it was an ad for a paid product. Let's face it; trial versions are not freeware, and have no business in a section for such. We're not talking "accident" here, but suit or no suit, a conartist remains a conartist.
Five minuttes of worshiping the elite, isn't worth my time, since their fame, and reputation is keept artificially inflated by gossip pedlers like "People".
Quite frankly: Shouldn't promoting elitism have gone out of fashion with The Nurenberg Trials?
Never mind,- my folks always said, that one should anything at least once,- I have hereby officially tried reading "People",- and out it went...:o)

“The Eye” and “The Bug”…
The Weather Eye is affiliated with the reputable Weather Network, and the app’s finish looks more professional, but it only seem to collect local weather observations from a single location.
The Weather Bug have several registered stations, including privately run “hobbyist” weather stations tremendously expanding the grid supporting their forecasts,- thus increasing the accuracy of their forecasts. In addition to having the same selections of forecast types (short term, long term, e.t.c.), they also show Doppler Radar data.
The Bug stays,- the network goes…
MemoryUp
I was looking for an app that would show memory use ie data/software distribution on the built-in memory, aswell as on the mini SD card. Preferably on the home screen. But not this app, so out it goes...

Twitter Apps
OpenBeak has nothing on the other two, and it lacks media support,- so it goes.
TwitterCaster has both a nice interface, and media support, but seems to have a problem authenticating,- and that is dispite having tweet’ed for Handmark twice. It would seem that they may be out to harvest peoples Twitter account usernames/passwords (I, for one, changes these on a regular basis anyway, and recommend others to do likewise),- maybe to spam other Twitter users, impersonating someone else, or maybe their software is simply too poorely programmed to actually work, who knows,- I’m sticking with ÜberTwitter :))
Reviewing the BB Apps
Vlango 4.0.5 has been praised as software in a class of it's own. A limeted version promises to enable you to operate your BlackBerry with very little use of buttons, merely speaking the commands, while the Pro version allows you to speak inside other apps.
I saw words like " flawless" being used in reviews.
And it works, but slow - very, very slow. The software misunderstands commands, and uses it own sub apps, not the apps you downloaded because you like working with them.
With slow response time like that, and unpredictable reaction as far as execution of other apps goes, I can't use this professionally, double checking for faults,- so out it goes - sorry...

Getting Started - Loading The BlackBerry 8330 Curve...
I'll start by saying that I'm impressed with this Curve 8330. It's sturdy with regards to architecture, not much knocks it out, and the single time I got totally stock with a frozen berry in my hand, it was my own fault, and after disconnecting/reconnecting the battery, the Curve recovered without a hitch.
I furthermore wish to commend TBayTel for their excelent reliable coverage out here, and above all the curtious, willing, and knowlegdable phone support, on such a sleepy Sunday morning, when a gadgeteere like me sqeals: "Help" :o)
